The Kia Sorento has a sturdy powertrain option. This three-row small SUV features either a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission or a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque with a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Plus, the plug-in hybrid version offers up a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a 66.9-kilowatt electric motor and a 14-kilowatt-hour battery pack. 261 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque are hard to deny. Plus, fuel economy clocks in an EPA-estimated 41 miles to the gallon.
The competitors like the Hyundai Santa Fe, the Honda Pilot, and the Toyota Highlander pale in comparison. Powertrain options are more limited with the Hyundai Santa Fe, though it does offer hybrid options to Sandy Springs drivers. The Honda Pilot and the Toyota Highlander only feature one powertrain option, limiting the capability for Austel drivers.
Interior and Technology
The Kia Sorento features five trim levels. Base model versions like the LX and S have great tools like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-inch touchscreen, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Dual-zone climate controls and heated front seats make it easy to get comfortable all year round. This is a generous spread of tools for entry versions of this vehicle.
The Hyundai Santa Fe has a very spartan cabin with low trim levels, the Honda Pilot even more so. The Toyota Highlander spreads its tech tools across all of its trim levels, making no single one a better deal than what's offered with the Kia Sorento.
Douglasville drivers: for more refined features look at upper trim levels of the Kia Sorento like the SX Prestige. This comes with a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and leather upholstery.
Hyundai Santa Fe has many great luxury elements but has one extra trim level, reserving some features that could simply be included with their Limited trim. The Honda Pilot features the least impressive amount of tech for a high trim level, while the Toyota Highlander offers an awkward collection of tools with their highest trim.
Safety Features
The Kia Sorento comes with an impressive spread of safety features. Collision mitigation with automatic braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot warnings, and rear automatic braking, will keep you feeling secure around the Powder Springs area.
The Hyundai Santa Fe has a similar lineup of standard safety aids, but without rear automatic braking. The Honda Pilot is the same, and the Toyota Highlander has the impressive Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of tools. Upper trim levels of the Kia Sorento come with additional safety features like adaptive cruise control, enhanced forward collision mitigation, and a lane-centering system. The top-of-the-line SX Prestige trim has a blind spot camera. The Hyundai Santa Fe does not offer these tools and neither does the Honda Pilot.
